What exactly does ProsPet treat?

PetAlive ProsPet is a 100% natural, safe effective herbal and homeopathic remedy for treating pet prostate and BPH problems and promoting prostate health. This remedy will address all the major symptoms associated with enlarged prostate and, with regular use, will help to shrink the prostate gland. PetAlive ProsPet maintains male prostate health, reduces swollen and enlarged prostate glands, promotes strong and healthy urine flow, relieves pain and discomfort on urination, relieves painful and strained defecation and strengthens the immune system. ProsPet may also be used as a preventative.

What does ProsPet contain?

PetAlive ProsPet contains the following 100% herbal and homeopathic ingredients:

Sabal Serrulata is more commonly called Saw Palmetto and is known to be highly effective in treating the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. In human trials Saw Palmetto has been shown to be as effective as prescription drugs at reducing symptoms but without the negative side-effects. Saw Palmetto is also excellent as a prostate tonic and contains natural substances for reducing inflammation of the prostate gland.

Galium aperine (Cleavers) is an herb which has been used in folk medicine for many centuries as a cleansing tonic, lymphatic cleanser and blood purifier. Regular use helps to expel toxins from the body. Clinically, it is most useful for conditions involving inflammation and swelling of glands (glandular fever, tonsillitis, mumps and prostate swelling) and for problems involving the urinary system.

Echinacea purpurea is the best known and researched herb for stimulating the immune system. Over 500 scientific studies have documented the effectiveness of this herb. Research has shown that Echinacea increases the activity of the immune system cells, stimulates new tissue growth for wound healing, reduces inflammation and inhibits growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi. These properties make Echinacea the ideal herb for reducing prostate inflammation as well as preventing all types of infections of the prostate including bacterial prostatitis - another cause of prostate and urinary symptoms in pets.

Baryta carb (30C) is a homeopathic ingredient effective in reducing prostate enlargement, frequent urination as well as burning on urinating.

What is the proper dosage?

Prospet Drops are to be taken 2-3 times per day at the following dosage:

Cats and small dogs: 2-3 drops.

Medium dogs: 5-8 drops.

Large dogs: 8-12 drops

In what form does ProsPet come in?

PetAlive ProsPet comes in convenient tincture drop form. The drops are easy to administer to pets and may be mixed with food or a treat.

What is the shelf life?

You will find a white sticker under the bottle with the expiry date on it. It is best stored in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight.

When will improvement be seen?

Regular use will promote prostate health, prevent swelling of the prostate gland and reduce associated symptoms. You should notice an improvement in your pet’s symptoms within the first week, with continual improvement over a 3 - 6 week period.

Does ProsPet have any side effects?

No, PetAlive ProsPet does not have any side effects as it is 100% natural and herbal.

How long does a bottle last?

One 50ml bottle of PetAlive ProsPet will last for 15 - 60 days, depending on the size and needs of your pet.

What is the prostate and where is it located in dogs and cats?

The prostate is a gland that lies in your male pet’s pelvis- just behind the bladder and below the rectum. This positioning means that-unlike in humans- an enlarged prostate will affect your pet’s ability to urinate and defecate normally. The prostate gland begins to develop at puberty under the effect of testosterone in un-neutered animals. It will achieve its full, normal size by the time your pet is about 2 years old. The function of the prostate gland is to provide nourishment for sperm cells in the form of prostatic fluid.

What are the symptoms of BPH in pets??
  • Pain or discomfort on urination
  • Frequent, strained attempts to urinate
  • Painful and strained defecation
  • Abnormal gait: you may notice your pet walking with very small steps and his rear legs straight and stiff
  • Discharge from the penis

What about Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is actually very uncommon in dogs and cats and the occurrence of this is unaffected by neutering. Benign prostatic hypertrophy (swelling) (BPH) is far more common and, for the most part, causes the same symptoms. If, however, your pet has been looking unwell and lethargic and you have noticed a decreased appetite and weight-loss, it may be a good idea for your peace of mind to take your dog or cat to the vet. A vet will be able to examine the prostate and do some investigations to confirm whether or not your pet has cancer of the prostate gland. Prostate cancer is not generally operated on in pets as this will lead to incontinence, will be useless if the cancer has spread around the body and is technically very difficult surgery.

My dog seems to be having pain when urinating- is it definitely his prostate causing this?

Not necessarily - there are a number of other conditions that may affect your dog’s ability to urinate normally including stones in the urinary tract or, more commonly, urinary tract infections. It is best for you to have your pet seen by a vet in order to establish what the cause of his symptoms is. For natural treatment of pet UTI’s please see our Pet Alive UTI Free remedy.
